Bondage – One of the core principles of BDSM as paired with Discipline. The B in BDSM stands for Bondage.
BDSM stands for ‘Bondage, Discipline, Dominance, and Submission’. BDSM is the general umbrella term for a plethora of different practices or kinks that involve some form of dominance and power exchange. Bondage within BDSM refers to the act and/or practice of physically restraining another individual in various ways. Restraints can be anything from simple handcuffs to elaborate rope bondage ties. Doing it is easy, all you need is a willing partner, a few tools, and a little creativity.
The Kink of Bondage is about exploring power dynamics and submission. It is about the play of control and restraint. It is a way to bring out the submissive side of your partner and explore the deeper layers of desire. Bondage is about creating an intimate connection and exploring the limits of your partner’s trust and comfort. It is about pushing the boundaries of pain and pleasure and exploring new ways to explore your sexuality.
Bondage is a kink where a person is physically restrained from moving using different types of ropes, restraints, and other materials. A person in bondage can be placed in uncomfortable positions or situations and may feel completely helpless in that situation. Bondage is about surrendering control and dominance to your lover to satisfy your fantasies and bring you pleasure.
A type of play that has the goal to restrain a person. This can be achieved in many different ways, using different forms and in different dynamics. These differences produce different results that can range from feeling like a cozy blanket all the way to being extremely restrictive and challenging.
As a form of Bondage, this is the family of Bondage that uses rope to achieve this. The term Rope Bondage has grown in places where it is now considered “bondage” even without the restraining factor of what the rope does. This is predominantly due to more activities being introduced such as self-tying, rope dressing, Rope Play, and other applications of rope bondage in places that do not always have a connection to the BDSM/kink community.
There are many different styles, but predominantly there is Western Bondage and Japanese Bondage In more modern applications both people in the West as well as people in and around Japan are moving also towards a Japanese Hybrid where some safety and style elements are taken from Western bondage and applied with the Japanese philosophy.
Bondage, usually with rope but sometimes with chain or leather cuffs and hardware, where the person being bound is attached to a hardpoint or suspension frame with all or part of their body weight supported only by the bondage. In a full suspension, no part of the body is supported by anything other than the material being used for the bondage. In a partial suspension, some part of the person’s body is touching the floor underneath the point being suspended from.
Using wraps like plastic foil or bandages to wrap a person in so that they are restricted in their motion or they are feeling the pressure of the wrapping around them. In many cases, unwrapping can only be done by cutting, especially with foil, so the material will only be usable once.
The person can be put into positions during wrapping and there are options to give access to certain areas of the body for other play.
Often combined with a sensory play where the person is touched all over the wrappings, which gives interesting sensations.
In some cases, foil has been used to do suspension bondage. This uses a lot of foil and is limited in the options you have to suspend safely, but is still very doable. Coming down from such a suspension is done by slowly cutting pieces of foil that are holding the person up until the point that the foil stretches so far they are back on the ground.
